In the book Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, what...?

What is the conflict? Like, I know the kids go into the wardrobe but what gets them involved in the world they entered and why do they have to save things and stuff? Also, are there any other book you know of that, when the characters enter that world, no time pes in theirs? Thanks.
