What do i do with a guy thats too shy?!?!?

im the manager for the bbal team at school and through out all of the practices and games I found this really cute player to always look at me (but i didnt tell any of my friends bec, i thought my mind was just making it up). But for the past week we all stayed in a hotel for the state compitition, and i texted him asking for some information about geting my friends ipod back, and he responed with a "come by and get it!" i said no cuz i looked like crap, then he said "hey you could never look bad :)" and i said oh your too sweet, then he said "soo are you comin by or not?? :)" and i said no then he responed with a "fine :( ". and then i wrote "i would love to hang out sometime when we are back home" and he never responed back to me (it was like 1 in the morning). Ever since that he has been staring at me more than usual, but he is soo shy, we have never talked in person. He doesn't even talk to his guy friends a lot. I dont know if i should texted him and make the move or what...??? this is kinda my first time doing this so i need help! he is really good looking and popular so i dont know what to do!?!?!
