Where to surf on maui in winter?

i'm going to maui in january and am wondering about what surf spots would be good for me. i'm not a beginner, i surf pretty much daily, but i'm also not a hawaiian. anybody have any recommendations on where to stay and good longboardins that are easy to get to (my friends don't surf so i'll be going solo, boo,hoo) i'd be very appreciative. also wondering how much of a factor the reefs are. i don't really deal with them on a regular basis in california. mahalo!
